Roman Way Supporters

Most schools have a Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and Roman Way is no different!

We have a wonderful group of parents who run events for pupils in the school with the aim of providing extra-curricular fun, and to raise a little money for the school while doing so.

The last two years have been tough for the Roman Way Supporters, as we haven’t been able to run full school events, but things are starting to come back to life once more.

Over the course of a full year, the supporters usually run:

· 2 full school discos

· Christmas fair

· Movie night

· Christmas shop

· Mothers day gifts

· Fathers day gifts

· A creative competition or two

· Summer fair

· Teas and coffees at school events e.g. Christmas plays and Sports days

· Raffles and non-uniform days

The Roman Way Supporters are a registered charity (1187743) and have a number of elected officials to act as trustees. The money that the charity raises through their events goes into the charity bank account and then is spent almost entirely (excluding insurance costs) on school resources and activities.

The Roman Way Supporters have, for example, paid for new rugs for the library area, annual pantomimes, bouncy castles for leaver’s parties, resources for EYFS classrooms and new play equipment.

Our next fundraising aim is to help buy equipment for the new outdoor learning area. This is a transformed piece of land just behind the classrooms that was overgrown and boggy. The new area has a pond with a pond dipping platform, and areas for children to learn about their environment and the natural world. Pond dipping equipment, raised beds for planting and den building resources are just a few of the elements the team would love to fund.

We’re always looking for parents to join the team and help run the various events. The team meet regularly and have a great time both planning the events and on the day as well. We’d love for you to join in – you can put in as much time as you have available, every little helps!

If you would like to be a Roman Way Supporter, just visit our Facebook group - - and join in the fun!

See you soon!

Key Stage 1 Wow Day

On Thursday 21st April  Key Stage 1 had their WOW Day to start their new topic ‘From Field to Fork’.  The children used a variety of fruits and vegetables to print on fabrics to make picnic blankets.  They made a list of the  different things they needed for their picnic and they followed recipes to make jam, cheese or ham sandwiches.  The children helped the adults to pack their picnic and went onto the school field where they had their picnics.  They had fun all afternoon.

Nursery Pizza Making

This month our Owls have been busy making their own pizza's.  This involved choosing their own toppings and preparing them before the pizza's were baked.  They were then able to take them home.
