Weekly Update 14 - w/c 3 March

It has been a busy week in Reception this week. It has also been a lovely sunny week; it feels like we have turned a corner into Spring and our outdoor area has gotten a lot busier! The children have been in the mud kitchen and water area, building dens and making obstacle courses.  We are looking forward to the imminent addition of a sandpit to further enhance our outdoor area.

On Tuesday, we celebrated pancake day by opening up our annual Pancake Cafe. The children wrote their order down and presented it to the cafe where they could then make their own pancake. The Pancake Cafe staff were kept very busy as you can imagine!

On Thursday, it was World Book Day and, across the school, we based it around Drew Daywalt and Oliver Jeffers' wonderful book, 'The Day the Crayons Quit'. All the children came dressed in their crayon colours and we had a day full of crayon craft and creativity. As part of Drawing Club, the children also wrote mini protest signs for their crayons showing why they have quit.

In maths, we have been looking at different representations and compositions of numbers 9 and 10.

In PE, as part of our unit on ball skills, we have been developing our skills at throwing at targets.
