Weekly Update 18 - w/c 24 March
As we come closer to the end of another term, we have enjoyed a busy week full of learning.
In maths, we have been learning about 3D shape. We have been naming, describing and sorting the shapes in a range of different activities and getting to grips with all the new names: cylinders, cubes, cuboids, spheres and square based pyramids!
In Drawing Club, we have focused on the picture book ‘Errol’s Garden’ by Gillian Hibbs. The story of a boy who lives in an apartment and dreams of having his own garden. One day, he discovers that his block of flats has a rooftop and teams up with his neighbours to create a wonderful rooftop garden. The book has inspired another wave of planting activity in Reception and we now have pumpkins, peas, carrots and sweet peas shooting up alongside our sunflowers.
In PSHE this half term, we have been focusing on the importance of listening. This week, we were again working in pairs on a blindfold obstacle course. One child wore a blindfold and had to listen carefully to their partner who guided them round the obstacle course with their instructions. Don’t worry, adults were close at hand at all times!
In PE, we continue with our ball skills and this week we began developing our skills dribbling the ball with our feet making sure that we used soft touches to keep the ball in our control. There are some aspiring footballers amongst us.
