Weekly Update 16 - w/c 10 March

This week, we have been spending lots of time outdoors. We have opened up our new sandpit which will give the children lots of opportunities for gross motor movement play. In topic, we have been looking at seeds and how they are all different shapes, colours and sizes. The children learnt that seeds are covered in a protective seed coat that protects the embryo inside. All the children had the opportunity to plant a sunflower seed, which are now inside in our indoor greenhouse to protect them from the cold nights.

In Drawing Club, we continued the planting theme by looking at the traditional tale, The Gigantic Turnip. The children had to imagine what vegetable they would plant and how big it would get. There were carrots as big as skyscrapers and potatoes as big as the moon!

In Maths, we have continued to explore making number bonds to 10 using lots of different resources including counters and 10s frames.

In PE, we continue developing our ball skills and have been practising dribbling the ball with our hands, starting using 2 hands and then moving on to using 1 hand.
