Welcome to the Roman Way Supporters!

Hello and a big, warm welcome to the Roman Way Supporters (RWS) – your Parent Teacher Association.

We are a friendly group of volunteer parents and carers who work with the school to create the best possible experience for our children at Roman Way Academy. We do this by:

  • Raising money for the extra things that make school life special.
  • Running events that bring our whole school community together.

Every parent or carer with a child at Roman Way is automatically a member of the RWS, and we’d love for you to get involved in any way you can.

Upcoming Events & Meetings

  • Future Events: Keep an eye out for details on the Christmas Raffle, School Discos, Uniform Sales and more. These are usually shared via our WhatsApp Community groups, WhatsApp Class groups, social media and school notice boards. We also plan to have regular preloved uniform sales, pop-up refreshments sales as well as many others. We’re always open to suggestions so please let us know if you have any ideas.
  • Welcome to the PTA Sessions: Date TBC but it usually falls in September/October and sometimes hosted as a Coffee Morning. Come along to hear about our plans for the year, and shape what decisions we make. We’d love to meet as many of you as we can.
  • Our PTA Annual General Meeting (AGM) takes place in Q2 2027

 

What We’ve Funded Together

Thanks to your incredible support at our events, here are just a few of the things the RWS has recently funded for our school and children:

  • A whole-school planetarium experience for Science Week.
  • Significant funding for the Sensory Room and its specialist equipment.
  • The fantastic outdoor classroom and woodland learning area.
  • New books for our indoor and outdoor libraries.
  • Updated playground equipment for all year groups.
  • New outdoor resources and storage for Key Stage 1.
  • Engaging resources for wet playtimes in every classroom.
  • The annual pantomime.
  • The celebratory Year 4 leavers' trip.
  • New scooter and bike racks.
  • Wooden benches for the school field.
  • Fun end-of-year class pool parties.
  • School hats for sun safety.
     

How You Can Help

Every little bit of help makes a huge difference, and it doesn’t have to be a huge commitment! Here are some easy ways to get involved:

  • Join our WhatsApp Group: This is the best way to stay up-to-date with news and event reminders. It’s a broadcast-only group, so you’ll only get key messages from the committee. Please scan the QR code displayed in the school or contact the PTA.
  • Become a Class Rep:  We need a parent in each class group to help share important messages across the class WhatsApp groups. If you can help, please get in touch.
  • Offer an “Hour of Power”:  This is our biggest need area. Can you spare an hour to help on a stall at the disco? Could you help wrap some Christmas presents at home for our Christmas shop? Could you help sell tickets in the playground for our next raffle? Let us know – we have a list of ‘micro-volunteers’ with no long-term commitment, and we will be on-hand to support you at any events you assist with.
  • Easy Fundraising: Sign up to Easyfundraising and select "Roman Way Supporters" as your cause. You’ll raise money for the school every time you shop online, at no cost to you! It includes retailers like Amazon, Trainline, all the major supermarkets and retailers.   • Matched Funding: Does your employer offer matched funding? Many companies will match the money raised at an event, doubling our profits! Please ask your HR department.
